Gillian - October 19-20

Hello from Crete,
Yesterday was very long. We got off the plane, found our rental car, and found the airbnb.

It has a cold pool and a pond. We wandered around the area and I took some pictures.

Then we had dinner at a restaurant were Nikos made loads of traditional foods. I ate a meatball that wasn't ball shaped, potatoes and a big tomato filled with rice. It was yummy and we were full. Then they insisted we have dessert so I found room.

Today I slept in while Barbara made breakfast. Then we travelled west past Chania to a place with a monastery and gorge and swimming. There was lots of Jesus pictures but the best bits were the caves. Oh boy oh boy. I saw a bat.

Then we hiked further down to another monastery with a bell. I reminded me of air bender temples.

Next we hiked in the gorge and came across some goats.

Then it was swimming in the Mediterranean sea. It was cold-ish because the top layer of the water was cool, but 6 inches below it was warm. Then I found a crab with spindly legs coloured red and black. I climbed along the cliff side above the water and thought "Isaac would be jealous."

On they way back we entered the packed city of Chania, found parking, and had a yummy dinner as we looked out over the old harbour and people running a 5km fun run.
The End
